Samridhi Khandelwal, an interdisciplinary contemporary artist from India currently  residing in the USA, is celebrated for her profound exploration of the interplay  between personal experiences and inner consciousness. Completing her Master of Fine Arts in painting from Coventry University (U.K) in 2018 and her Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting from Amity University, India in 2015, Samridhi draws from her diverse academic background to create art that captures the fleeting moments  of life with a fusion of imagination and introspection. 

Her work is distinguished by its unique blend of naturalistic yet abstract elements,  often employing shadows and urban landscapes to provoke existential questioning  and evoke deep emotional responses. In 2018, Samridhi was honored with the Finext National Award, recognizing her exceptional talent and contribution to  contemporary art.

Artist Statement

As an artist, I explore the profound connections between imagination, reality, and  emotions. Inspired by Anaïs Nin’s insight that  

“Unexpressed emotions will never die; they are buried alive and will come forth later,”  I strive to unveil the rich tapestry of my inner self and personal experiences through my  art. Each creation serves as a chapter in my ongoing journey, intricately woven and  evolving with each brushstroke. 

Driven by a relentless curiosity, I delve into the depths of my thoughts and experiences,  channeling them into my work to encapsulate life’s fleeting moments. My artistic pursuit  transcends mere representation, venturing into realms of imagination and introspection.  At the core of my practice is a visual language that articulates the complexities of the  unconscious, particularly in relation to reciprocity failure. 

Through diverse techniques such as laser cutting and collage, I imbue my works with a  naturalistic yet abstract quality. By manipulating light, shadow, and line, I evoke visceral  responses, drawing inspiration from Freud’s insights into the human psyche. My  fascination with shadows and the unconscious-conscious continuum drives my  exploration of human perception and existential questioning. 

I spotlight the intricate visual aesthetics of urban landscapes, evoking rawness and depth  in my compositions. Using a palette of earthly and neutral tones, I invite viewers on an  emotive journey into realms of feeling and memory beyond conscious awareness. As I  push the boundaries of creativity and innovation, my aim remains to share the essence of  my emotions and inspire positive change in those who engage with my art.
